Advancing Hope Through Promotion of Health in Mozambique
"The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed. "  Hudson Taylor
The Birth of Mozambique Institute for Health Sciences at Chicuque
Mozambique experiences numerous challenges in its public
health delivery system, including health network expansion,
increasing access to health care, human resources
development, emerging diseases and financing. In order to
address these challenges and meet its health priorities as
detailed in the Health Sector Strategic Plan, Mozambique
requires and encourage a collaborative approach in
partnership with other sectors, including the civil society to
strengthen the primary health system and develop a strong
health workforce.
The United Methodist Church in Mozambique is a long term
partner of the Mozambique Ministry of Health. Together we
have worked in a variety of health efforts from medical care,
nursing education to prevention of diseases. These efforts
continue today as we work side-by-side consolidating our
experiences and gains from the partnership.
It is under these premises that once again, the church is
embracing the task of seeking resources to develop the school
of health sciences at Chicuque. This institution will make a
great contribution in the development of  Mozambique health
force. We encourage anyone interested in joining this effort to
contact us for detailed project information.
