Chicuque Rural Hospital
Advancing Hope Through Promotion of Health in Mozambique
Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey
everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:16-20
Jeremias Franca
Director of Chicuque Rural Hospital

Beloved  friends,
In this year, Chicuque Rural Hospital completes 100 years  of
service to the people of Mozambique. It has been a century of
caring and healing through medical missions, a century of
serving and providing technical health education. During the
most toughest times in the country, Chicuque played a crucial
role in the delivery of medical care and prevention of diseases.
Today, Chicuque still holds a privileged position in the
leadership of national health priorities.

It is an honor for us to serve at Chicuque and to partner with all
the individuals, churches and conferences who support our
ministry. We awe so much gratitude to you for all that Chicuque
has been able to do through your support. Chicuque Rural
Hospital is part of an entire national health care system that is
already weakened by the financial crisis that affected almost
everyone worldwide.

As we celebrate the Jubilee, we renew our commitment to
advancing hope through promotion of health in Mozambique.
We need your continued support in ministry.

Health Services in 2012
I am very privileged to be in service and partnership
with all those of you who have come to connect in
mission with Chicuque Rural Hospital. Serving as a
connection point between you and the people who
use Chicuque hospital has been such a wonderful
opportunity and experience of service. Despite the
enormous economic difficulties that we are presently
facing, one fundamental  resource that is never short
on us is our faith, determination and commitment to
the mission of Chicuque Rural Hospital. We are here
to proclaim Jesus through the continued medical
ministry of our church. Running health care in an
economic and political environment such as this is not
an easy thing to do. As we go through a lot of turmoils
due to downsizing, lawsuits for staff layoffs, the
threats of war, we are constantly reminded of the
need for patience and preseverance. I guess Hudson
Taylor was right when  he said that  there were three
requirements  for being a missionary. Requirement
one is Patience. Requirement two is patience, and
requirement three is patience. If I were to add to those
requirements, I would add a fourth one, and that
would be more patience. The founding father of our
Methodism, John Wesley,  did say that: "Do all the
good you can, by all the means you can, in all the
ways you can,  in all the places you can, at all the
times you can, to all the people you can, as long as
ever you can". And let us not grow weary of doing
good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give
